Philippe Robert

Data Scientist

From finance to data science, I navigate the evolving tech landscape, curious about the defining role of our era.

I am enthusiastic about the impact of Machine & Deep Learning's scalability on our daily lives. I enjoy product design and enhancing its functionality with data-driven decision making.

I like to take the derivative of complex ideas to understand their foundational principles. I am currently applying this concept to LLMs to explore energy supply techniques that make training and inference more resource-efficient. I am also investing energy into learning about the energy transition.

I am currently working as a Data Scientist for NYU, developing machine learning models to uncover data coming from Indigenous territory using biological taxonomy and geographic information. This proof of concept aims to extract features characterizing Indigenous data, demonstrating how ML can support benefit-sharing initiatives.

I'm throwing my hat in the ring to be part of the vibrant and growing tech scene of Montréal. If you have any project you'd like to discuss, feel free to reach out!

In my free time, I enjoy studying language, reading books, writing thoughts on all subject that interest me, doing sport, trying the local restaurant/café that I haven’t tried yet and meeting new people.

I am currently reading Build a Large Language Model (from Scratch) by Sebastian Raschka and The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. If you have a book or movie recommendation, feel free to recommend it!
